This certification scheme of personal skills apply to operators of hoisting equipment, load and personnel lifting equipment, slingers and signalers.
Any person certified under this scheme is qualified as follows:
- Operate load lifting, personnel lifting or hoisting equipment for the purpose of placing loads according to the scope of their certification
- Respond to the signals of the supervisor or signaler
- Take the responsibility for the operations for which he/she is certified and under his/her direct control
- Operate the equipment for which he/she is certified in a safe and efficient manner
- (experienced operator level only) Train and coach non-experienced operators.
- (experienced operator level only) Supervise operations performed with equipment for which the operator has been certified.
- Assist the equipment operator in lifting or hoisting maneuvers according to the scope of his/her certification, to ensure that they are performed safely and efficiently
- Use the signaling system specified in IRAM 3922:2017 standard according to the scope of his/her certification
- Identify possible deviations in the stability of the load, influence of the wind in relation to the load.
- Identify possible risks inherent to the hoisting of the load, as well as to the environment in which the load moves.
- Identify if any hoisting element or guide rope is not working properly.
- (Crushing, overpositioning, lack of thread on a bolt or eyebolt, or deviation out of proposal by the slingers).
- Report any anomaly to supervisors
- (for experienced level only) Train and coach inexperienced signalmen.
- (experienced signaler level only) Supervise operations performed by non-experienced signalers
- Brace the load for its adequate hoisting
- Verify the condition of each implement and load handling element and its correct use
- Report any irregularities to the supervisor
- (experienced slinger level only) Train and coach non-experienced slingers.
- (experienced slinger level only) Supervise slinging by non-experienced slingers
